How are Canopy Essential Oils made?

We are 100% family owned and located on a tree farm in the Coastal Mountain Range of Oregon. Fresh needles are harvested from our forest or within a 5-mile radius from properties that share our environmental and sustainability practices. All of our essential oils are steam distilled in a custom crafted stainless steel drum using spring water from our property. Each variety of evergreen is distilled shortly after harvest to ensure the highest quality.

What makes Canopy Essential Oils special?

Unlike commercial essential oils whose origins and chemical exposure of the evergreens are unknown, our ingredients come from our own or local Oregon forests. We own the land and pride ourselves on letting nature be free to do what it does best: grow! We never use chemicals on any of our trees or the land itself which guarantees every batch of essential oil is of the purest and highest quality.

Do you dilute or add anything to the oils?

Nope.

Storage & Safe Use of Essential Oils

Keep the essential oil bottle tightly capped and store in a cool and dark location, out of direct sunlight. This will ensure quality. Also, always keep essential oils out of the reach of children.

  • For use in aromatherapy, Canopy essential oils may be used via inhalation or skin application. For inhalation, simply place a few drops of oil in a diffuser that is designed for aromatherapy, either electric or candle-powered.

  • Do not apply essential oils to your skin without first diluting them in a carrier oil (e.g., coconut oil, jojoba oil). Undiluted oils can cause skin irritation.

  • First test for skin sensitivity by applying 1 drop of oil diluted in 1/2 tsp. carrier oil on your wrist. If within 24 hours there is any sign of redness or itching, do not use the oil.

  • Do not ingest essential oils, either directly or mixed with food.

  • Keep essential oils out of the reach of children and pets.

  • Pregnant or nursing women should consult a physician before use.

  • Do not overuse oils since inhaling or applying too much can cause headaches and/or discomfort.

  • Pure essential oils are potent and should be used carefully.

  • Consult a qualified herbal practitioner or physician before applying externally. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears or sensitive areas.
